It is very amazing to see how humans have changd and built this world into something other than it used to be. Yet, the world of animals is still more amazing and strange. Nature has gifted every being with strange abilities and skills. Most of these skills
help them in surviving the area to which they belong. Shelter is one of the primary needs for all the creature. That is why majority of the animals have this natural ability to build a home for themselves.
Although, all creatures build their house in one way or another; a few of them go to amazing extremes. These creatures build strange homes for themselves in order to invite preys and save themselves from being a prey. Let us have a look at some of nature’s most talented builders around.
African Termites: These insects are the constructorsof the largest non-man-made structures on earth. The material they make is so hard that the natives use it for their own houses as well. However, strength is some thing that makes it a wonder. The whole building is a display of architecture and engineering excellence. The structure has a proper ventilation system and able to maintain temperature in anyclimate.
Beaver: Even before man started to build dams and live in lodges, beavers did. Beavers are excellent constructors. They usually live close to water bodies such as rivers. The dams they build are strong enough for a person to walk by. During winters, the shelters they build are known as lodges. These lodges are cone-shaped structures with an underwater entrance to keep predators from sneak in.
Caddisfly: They are not known the underwater architects without any reasons. They normally spin silk and build their home with it. They make retreats and cases with this silk. The silk retreat aids them in catching food and the cases protect them from anemies.
Prairie dogs: These animals don’t only make homes but rather cautiously guarded forts. Generally, a family includes one male, a few females and lots of offspring. Their homes are built in a rare architectural manner. They have multiple rooms and entrances which the family is completely aware off, but an outsider can easily forget and trapped in them.
Bower birds: Bowers made by male bowerbirds are among the most visually appealing homes built by a creature besides humans. Male bower birds build these nests and decorate them with pretty flowers, leaves and anything else that they might find useful in attracting a female to their house.
